Recreation for the Whole Family to Enjoy
Lancaster’s parks and recreational facilities are unsurpassed, providing wide open spaces for a variety of recreational pursuits. A new $9 million recreation center offers state-of-the-art facilities including an indoor water park, a fitness area, an aerobics/dance room, two gymnasiums, meeting and banquet facilities, and more.
In conjunction with the center, the 270-acre Lancaster Community Park offers a Little League Baseball field, bike/jogging trail, a pond and fishing pier, an amphitheater, picnic areas, playgrounds, a lighted youth football field, a basketball court and athletic practice fields. Other area facilities include the Cedardale Softball Complex and Cedar Valley Soccer Complex, and numerous parks located throughout the city provide lighted baseball/softball fields, tennis courts, playground areas, pavilions, and jogging/walking trails for generations to enjoy.

For the avid golfer, the city boasts the 71-par Country View Golf Course, which is the only true public course located in southern Dallas County, and has been featured in Golf Digest’s “Places to Play” issues. The Ten Mile Creek Preserve and the Bear Creek Nature Preserve offer acres of wooded terrain graced with trails, ponds and creeks. For water sports enthusiasts, the 7,500-acre Joe Pool Lake, surrounded by the 630-acre Dallas Nature Center, is located just west of the city for year ’round enjoyment.
